When Leslie and Fleurine invited me for this tour I immediately loved the idea! How could I not? When Christmas and making clothes were the subject… The idea was making clothes using Itch to Stitch Patterns for the holidays, but not necessarily the classic Christmas dress, it could be anything related with the season, so the possibilities were several.
As much as I love dresses, I decided not to make it and make something that I could wear in a less formal party, like a night out, so I decided to make a top and cardigan.
For the top I used the Kathryn, a lovely empire-waist pattern that can be made as top or dress and that I really love the neckline with pleats.
The fabric I used is a sequin knit from Style Makers Fabrics that contrarily to what I feared, was easy to work with. All the construction went smoothly!
Accordingly to my measurements I made size 00 graded to 0 at the hip. The grading was really easy to make and I’m happy with the fit. 🙂
To complement the look, I made the cropped version of the Lisbon cardigan, with ¾ sleeves also using a knit from Style Makers Fabrics.
I must say that I love this pattern and I wanted to make it since it was released, so I am really pleased for finally taking the time to make it. Because I was making the cropped version and would not hit the hip, I made a straight the size 00.
Because the fabric is not as stretchy as the pattern recommends, I should have used a neckband a bit bigger, my mistake! Even though, I really like how it turned out. 🙂 I confess I was a bit worried it would turn out too sparkly, but I really like how the fabrics look together and I can always wear the cardigan with a plain black or white tank top for a more casual look.
Being part of this tour is being so much fun. Sharing ideas and the progress on the makes was really great. Also, picking fabrics when you are so far away can be tricky, but Michelle was so helpful, giving advices and sending photos of the fabrics together to see how it looked. Thank you!
There is a Holiday shipping special of $5 shipping on all fabric from Style Makers, no code needed. There’s also a discount for international shipping as well! 😉
If you are eying one or more Itch to Stitch patterns now is a good time to get them! You can get 16% off with the code “holiday 16”!
