It has been a while since I last published in the blog! The truth is, since I returned from holiday I have been really slow and taking my time. It looks like after such a long break it is difficult to get back to reality… But I have been doing a few things, just at a different pace.
One of the things I’ve made was a really cool dress, the Elskan Dress by Charlotte Kan I “met” Charlotte’s work thru Diana and have been following her work since then.
The Elskan was released yesterday and it can be made as a dress or a top and is available in the sizes 0 to 16, with option for long sleeve.
The option I made during the test was a dress in size 0, without sleeves. The dress has a loose drape on top and a fitted bottom but very comfortable.
This is a very stylish dress/top but the construction is really simple and easy. Apart the sleeve cuffs and neckband there are only two pattern pieces which make it a really fast sew and the instructions are helpful so, in no time, you have a cool dress ready to go out!
The fabric recommendation is for fabrics with 50% stretch with at least 5% spandex but, because I was making a dress and wanted a fabric a bit heavier for the bottom part I have chosen a fabric with only 4% Elastane. The fabric is the Denim College+ in navy from Nosh and although I know it is a bit heavier then recommended, I like how it looks and how comfortable it is. The top part is not as drapery as it should be, but I actually like it as well, although for a top version I would go with a lighter fabric.
Now good news, you can get your copy of the pattern with 25% discount until Monday 23:59 CET using the code sweetie!
