If you follow me for some time (doesn’t need to be too long) you must know how I like ruffles, even for me, as long as I keep it moderate. I like to wear them so, as you can imagine, I liked this pattern immediately. I like how light and feminine it looks. Perfect for Summer!
The pattern is the Suzon from République du Chiffon in size 34 without changes. The pattern is available from sizes 34 to 46 and although RDC already have some patterns translated to English, this one wasn’t the case.
The pattern is not difficult and the instructions despite not being as detailed as most PDF patterns are easy to follow and I did not had any problems or doubts during the construction.
The fact that I did not had problems with the construction doesn’t mean it all went smoothly, after all, who needs a project without issues? The first issue I had was with the neckband. The part that had the interfacing shrunk! Maybe I pressed too much? This was the first time I used this interfacing, so I am not sure what happened. As you can see in one side of the neckband the fabric has some wrinkles…
The other issue was while doing the buttonholes. Yes, you can’t see buttonholes or buttons! I gave up on them and used fastener snaps on the inside. Not the best solution, but I didn’t find any snaps that I liked for this blouse and fabric! The problem I faced here was with my sewing machine being a little too sensitive and apparently when the foot is raised, even if just a little bit, by the embroidery, it lost the button size memory and wouldn’t finish the buttonhole properly. Good thing I usually test with scraps, otherwise would have ruined the blouse.
The fabric used is a beautiful embroidered light cotton from here. I am so glad this store has a nice selections of embroidered cottons. They are usually hard to find!
Although I had a couple of issues while making this blouse, I am pleased with how it turned out. It’s a lovely pattern and the fabric is beautiful. I definitely recommend it and want to make more.
Have a lovely week 🙂
