The Jolie Skirt

My first project of the year was the Jolie Skirt, a good way to start! I had the pleasure to test this skirt for Mélanie from Filles à Maman, who is releasing the pattern today, as part of issue 10 of One Thimble.

The Jolie is an A-line skirt with elastic waist and I know I am partial, but the skirt is adorable and is available from size 12 months to 14 years which means you can have plenty of use with this pattern.

I tested a size 5 of the version with a front pleat, but you can make a plain front as well.

The skirt can be made in woven or knit fabrics and is an easy and fast project yet with a lovely result!

I used chambray for the main fabric and Tana Lawn Liberty print for the waistband and tie. I confess I had other plans and my intention was to make the skirt in blue, but my pink lover daughter changed my mind and convinced me on a pink one. Lucky me, I have another girl that asked me for one in blue. 😉

The instructions are great and Mélanie listened to the testers team and was very meticulous, to make sure you get a great pattern.

Thank you so much María 🙂 I have to agree, it is a perfect skirt for a little girl! Next time a want to make something in a different colour, I can’t ask her opinion 😉

This is such a beautiful and feminine skirt with all your lovely touches, Maria. The styling is just perfect, too! It goes so well with the socks and the top (did you make it?).

I did not made the top, I bought it before I started sewing! but I already have a pattern to try to make a similar one. 😉

  2. Love it!
I’m a bit partial on pink (love it, especially when it’s such a beautiful hue as this one), but I’m sure my girl would choose blue as well. Aren’t you lucky for sewing in pairs – you can make a pink and a blue version ❤
