The Moneta Dress

It has been a while since I sewed something for myself and it has been a while since I wanted to make this dress because I believe to be the kind of dress that fits my body type the best and in all the photos I have seen, it looks very flattering and elegant.

The dress is the Moneta Dress from Collete Patterns. I like the classic look of their patterns and this dress is no different. The dress has three sleeve options but I choose the ΒΎ sleeve so that I can wear it now, layered with a cardigan at least while it is not freezing cold.

I made a size XS and overall I like the fitting. To be honest I really like the dress, the way it fits me and it is super comfortable to wear. Also I got a great compliment from F, which made my day πŸ˜‰

The fabric is a Cotton Jersey that I bought here while in Portugal for holidays. I guess the floral print caught my eye! I believe this is not the best fabric for this dress because it doesn’t have much stretch, but the floral print totally make up for it πŸ˜‰

The dress was made according to the instructions, without any change except for not adding the pockets.

Although I do like the dress, a lot, the sleeves don’t quite convince me and next time I will try to improve it (with some help), but I assure you that this one will be worn a lot πŸ˜‰ Another thing I will do is to reduce the skirt length in about 1 or 2 inches just because I am not tall!

In summary I truly like the dress, a lot, but next time I will try to improve it, according to my personal taste.

Have a great week πŸ™‚

  1. Looks amazing on you ❀
The overall fit looks really great and the color/print is very flattering on your skin tone. Great choices.
Some time ago, I bought a couple of Collete patterns but I have yet to sew any of them (not the Monetta).

  2. I think the dress looks lovely, and you did a beautiful job! I don’t know that I would shorten it. Since the bottom half flares, if you shorten the dress, the width & length may be too similar and give a “boxier” look. Then, again, I may be totally wrong! Pin it up, take another photo, and compare.
