Following IG I realize that it was going on the Me Made May Challenge and I loved the idea so much, but I had a serious problem… until now I only had one single top “Me Made” so, clearly was not enough!!
Nevertheless I am determined to change that and decided to start right now preparing for next year. I know it looks a long time but it really isn’t that much considering that if I make two garments for myself each month I only end up with 24, which is not enough for the entire month!
Besides wanting to make clothes for myself, I also want to try different fabrics and technics so this time I used knit for a basic t-shirt and used the twin needles for the first time. I only had worked with knits a couple of times before and did not used the twin needles, but I really like the way it looks when they are used.
I am not sure what kind of fabric is this, but I think it is viscose. It was bought in a store with fantastic fabrics, but as they were closing down one of the stores, there was a great sale going on and this fabric was bought there but no information on is composition was visible.
The pattern used was the Kirsten Kimono Tee from Maria Denmark and it is a free pattern! Great, right? 😉 It is necessary to add the seam allowances for this pattern, but except for the sleeves, I did not. However, next time I will add to the bottom as well, to give some more length.
It is not perfect, there are quite a few mistakes, but I feel proud of this tee 🙂 even if it is just because I challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone. I had a few issues with the neckline, to be honest it seems like all the problems concentrated there, so this I need to improve!
Anyway, I think is wearable (even if it is under a cardigan) and the stripes almost matched 🙂
Just in case you are wondering why I wrote a post about a simple t-shirt with mistakes, I must say that I am just happy that I am being able to try different things, which is hard for me most of the time 🙂
Have a lovely week 🙂
